Pre-Columbian Inspired Clay

Art 2 has been working on Pre-Columbian inspired functional clay pieces for a little while now. Here are a few pictures of what they are doing!

Advanced Art Self Portrait Busts

The Advanced Art students are just starting their self portrait busts! This is a big project, and they are coming along so well already! Here are a couple pictures of the beginning stages. Check back for pictures of their progress!

Art 1 Wire

The Art 1 wire projects are underway! Students are forming, painting, and writing artist statements. We can't wait to display them!

Potter's Wheel!

Miss Pyper demonstrated using the potter's wheel for the Art 2 class today. As you can see from the pictures, she did a great job, and the students were really interested! The students will be working on the wheel themselves over the next few weeks. Check back in for pictures!

Meet Miss Pyper!

Second semester is well underway, and we are excited to welcome Miss Pyper, our student teacher from Calvin College. Miss Pyper will be with us until March 20th. She has already taken over the Art 2 class and will be picking up more classes as the weeks progress. 

The Art 1 classes are finishing up cut paper cubes and starting contour drawing. Art 2 is working with clay - clay food, coil pottery, and soon - the potter's wheel! Advanced Art is working on handmade books and calligraphy. More pictures to come!
